Welcome to our website. The Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC) was founded in 1957 and specializes in assisting visually impaired children up to the age of 21. The fund is operated entirely by Military Police volunteers and has no paid employees. All funds raised are used to benefit visually impaired children. Read more...

Presentation to ‘l’institut de réadaptation en déficience physique de Québec’

Le 14 juil 10, une délégation de la 5 UPM composée du Maj Vouligny (Cmdt), l’Adjuc Caron (SMR), Capt Destrempes (Cmdt PPM Rgn Qc), Adjum Raymond (SM PPM Rgn Qc) et M. 20th Anniversary Edition | NCR MPFBC Golf Tourament

Planning is well underway to ensure a successful 20th Anniversary edition of the National Capital Region Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC) Golf tournament. Pierre Compeau and his committee are actively planning the 3rd annual 2 MPU (Detachment Kingston) charity golf tournament, scheduled for September 17th, 2010 at the CFB Kingston Garrison Golf Course. Click here for more information.

Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride - 2010

Mark Farrer and his dedicated committee are hard at work planning the next coast-to-coast motorcycle relay ride. This years ride will start at 19 Wing Comox and travel across the country, ending in historic St John's Newfoundland. Last years ride raised over $9,000 for the Blind Fund. Colonel (retired) J.R. Stone - Founder of the Military Policed Fund for Blind Children

Appointed to the Order of Canada (Member) on October 19th, 1994, investiture on March 1st, 1995. "A true humanitarian and one of Canada's few remaining highly decorated soldiers from World War Two and the Korean conflict, he founded the Military Police Fund for Blind Children in 1957, bringing happiness to these very special youngsters. Under his guidance and life-long patronage, the Canada-wide fund expanded its activities over the years to Europe and the Middle East, providing medical equipment as well as educational and recreational assistance, otherwise unavailable to the children. "

Chief Warrant Officer (retired) T.S. Kittilsen - MPFBC Supporter

Early in his military career, CWO Kittilsen began running to maintain physical fitness and soon ran away with the sport, training and competing in road races, marathons and ultra-marathons. He collaborated with other running buddies and initiated and participated in three 100 mile runs on the track at CFB Chilliwack raising thousands of dollars for the Military Police Blind Children’s Fund and was successful in completing his most serious running challenge, a 100 miler from CFB Shearwater to CFB Greenwood.

Master Warrant Officer (retired) G. Price - MPFBC Supporter

Master Warrant Officer Price was the Company Sergeant Major of 2 Military Police Company and staunch supporter of the Blind Fund.

Canex - "Trim our Tree for a Loonie" Supports Blind Fund

Once again, Canex and their highly successful "Trim our Tree for a Loonie" program, has raised significant funds for the Blind Fund. A cheque was recently presented to the Blind Fund for $8,000.00, click here for a photograph of that presentation.

Sixth Annual MP Hockey Tournament | Valcartier Quebec

CFNIS Eastern Region has once again hosted a stellar MP hockey tournament the last week of March 2010. The "Old Watchdogs" were the eventual tournament winner, however the Blind Fund was the true winner as the tournament raised an impressive $2,3000. Family and Friends for the Troops Supporting the MPFBC

Family and Friends for the Troops are a non-profit organization, comprised of civilians, Winnipeg Policemen and 13 Military Police Platoon Members. Their aim is to increase public support of the military by educating the public on the roles our Reservists play, honour their sacrifices and achievements, and promote their commitment to Community, Province and Country. They are planning a significant "Welcome Home Soldiers" event in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Canad Inns (Garden City). BZ to Master Corporal Steve Laird - Fundraising for the MPFBC

MCpl Steve Laird with the assistance of retired MP Dell Blakney designed and minted a 2 Military Police Platoon Commemorative Coin with proceeds going to the MPFBC. Recently MCpl Laird was able to donate $500.00 to the MPFBC.

Military Police Qualification Level 3, Session 0059 Raise Money for the MPFBC

Members of MP QL3, Session 0059, presented a cheque for over $4,000.00 to the MPFBC on their graduation parade. The presentation was made by Cpl Ferris and Cpl Abela to Colonel Grubb, CFPM and Sgt Bedard, CFMPA Blind Fund representative. Click here for a photograph of the presentation.

Military Police Security Services - Detachment Tokyo

WO Benoit Crête, Security Manager at the Embassy of Canada to Japan in Tokyo along with MCpl Mathieu Saint-Louis and Cpl Jonathan Kennedy, have coordinated amazing fundraising efforts at the Embassy with over $1,500.00 raised. Click for photo.

Greenwood Old-Timers Hockey Team

The Greenwood Old-Timers hockey team has collected money throughout the year and recently decided to present $250.00 to the Blind Fund. On hand for the presentation was Master Warrant Officer Chubbs accompanied by Colonel Seymour, 14 Wing Commander and the Wing CWO, Chief Warrant Officer Jardine. Click here to view the photograph. Ottawa 10 Hour SPIN-A-THON nets $3,282.00 for Blind Fund

22 Wing North Bay Raising Funds for the MPFBC

22 Wing North Bay has been extremely generous in their support of the Blind Fund. Though this information is a little dated, it has not been published on our site previously. Two significant events generated over $6,000.00 for the MPFBC. A benefit concert featuring the 22 Wing Concert band paying tribute to the 50th Anniversary of NORAD raised an incredible $3755.00. Click here for a photograph of the cheque presentation. Later, in November 2009, the 22 Wing Band paid tribute to the Centennial of Flight. This event raised another $2620.00 for the blind fund. JTF Afghanistan MP Coy ROTO 7 Raise Funds for MPFBC

Sergeant Daniel Juteau and Corporal Vincent Bacon are to be congratulated for their fundraising efforts while deployed with the JTF Afg MP Company, ROTO 7. As of September 27th, 2009, over $2,200.00 was raised for the Blind Fund. Click here for a photograph of MP Company members.

2009 National Capital Region Golf Tournament

Military Police Qualification Level 3, Session 0058 Raise Money for the MPFBC

Members of MP QL3, Session 0058, presented a cheque for $4,342.49 to the MPFBC on their graduation parade. The presentation was made by Cpl Streeter and Cpl Wonnenberg to Maj Greenaway, CFMPA Commandant and CWO Rooker, Academy CWO. CWO Watson does it again!! With a winning bid of $4118.11, CWO Watson and three lucky friends will be visiting Lac Seul Outposts & Ojibway Outfitters next summer for the second year in a row. The MPFBC organization recognize the outstanding support of Ken and Brenda Robins, owner/operators of Lac Seul Outpost and CWO Watson.

Military Police Officer Course, 0008 Raise Money for the MPFBC

Members of MPOC, Course 0008, presented a cheque for $2,243.50 to the MPFBC on their graduation parade. High Praise from Winner of VIP Fishing Auction

CWO Barry Watson has just returned from his trip to Lac Seul, having won the auction last year. Barry was thoroughly impressed with the entire trip..."beyond belief" was mentioned several times. Barry also had very high praise for Ken and Brenda Robins, owner/operators of Lac Seul Outpost. A short slideshow of Barry's trip can be viewed here.

Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride

The MPNMRR is a Charity Fundraiser event to help raise money for Support Our Troops and the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. This event will consist of driving across Canada, passing through each Province (called Provincial Legs) with passing on the official baton, a Military Police Stuffed Bear. This ride will span from St. John's Newfoundland to Comox, British Columbia. For more details, visit the MPNMRR website.

Framed Wayne Gretzky Photograph Raffle

Two framed and signed photographs of Wayne Gretzky were raffled in the National Captial Region. The Grand Prize was a photograph of Wayne at centre ice at Maple Leaf Gardens following his final game there on December 19th, 1998. Second prize was a dressing room photograph of Wayne taken on April 18th, 1999. The draw raised in excess of $1100.00.

Military Police Qualification Level 3, Session 0056 Raise Money for the MPFBC

Members of MP QL3, Session 0056, presented a cheque for $3,375.17 to the MPFBC on their graduation parade. The presentation was made by Cpl Séguin and Cpl Guimond to LCol Beaudry, Maj Casswell and CWO Beaudoin. Click here for a photograph of the presentation.

2009 - Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament

The 2009 Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament was another huge success, raising over $1,500.00 for the MPFBC. Military Police teams from all over Eastern and Central Canada converged on Quebec City for this annual event. The eventual tournament winners were the "Old Watchdogs", a team whose average age was over 45!

Corporal Compeau is the MPFBC unit representative at CFB Kingston. Under his impressive leadership and initiative, Kingston raised over $11,000.00 for the Fund in 2008

Moustache Nets $350 for MPFBC

Captain Dan Collings, an MP Officer with CANOSCOM HQ, raised an impressive $350.00 for the Blind Fund -- having his beloved moustache shaved

National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign

On November 20th, a cheque in the amount of $1154.85 was presented at NDHQ to the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. The funds were raised from generous donations by attendees at the Public Service Week BBQ held on June 18th at Cartier Square in Ottawa. Funds collected were in support of the NDWCC which then divided the proceeds between the MFRC and the MP Blind Fund.

The MPFBC helped fund the participation of children at Camp Jouvence, held on July 14th to 18th.

2008 CANEX "Trim our Tree for a Loonie"

Each year at this time, CANEX and the Miliary Police Fund for Blind Children engage in a charity campaign call "Trimm our Tree for a Loonie". The official launch is November 12th, 2008 - Visit your local CANEX to help raise funds for the MPFBC.

18th Annual National Capital Region Golf Tournament

The 18th Annual National Capital Region golf tournament has concluded and was a resounding success. Over $14,000 was raised in support of the MPFBC.

2008 MPFBC Golf Tournament - Halifax NS

The 2008 MPFBC Golf Tournament in Halifax raised over $4,200.

2008 CFSAL 24-Hour Hockeython in support of the MPFBC

Once again the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics (CFSAL) is hosting a 24-hour Hockeython with proceeds supporting the MPFBC.

The Personal Insurance Company Donates Barbecue to CFMPA

Mr Ken Harris, representing The Personal, Home and Auto Group Insurance, recently paid a special visit to the home of the Branch. The Personal generously donated a barbecue to be used by students of CFMPA during their Blind Fund - fundraising efforts. Click here for a photograph.
