Military Police Security Service (MPSS) - Detachment Manila - Raising Funds for the MPFBC
Ian Hape, the Detachment Commander of MPSS Manila raised an incredible $5,188.00 (Cdn) for the Military Police Fund for Blind Children through a charity auction held at the Canadian Embassy. Ian and his deputy, Wray Arnold, were thoroughly impressed with the support shown by the diplomatic community and their security contacts. Well done Ian and Wray!

2013 Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride
The 2013 MPNMRR is ramping up for their 5th Annual ride across our great country. The ride starts August 6th in St John's NL and ends in Victoria BC on August 31st. Corporal Vaillancourt Raising Funds for the MPFBC
Cpl Vaillancourt, a reserve Military Policeman in Ottawa and also working full-time at the Recruiting Office, located in down-town Ottawa, challenged his Unit to raise $250 for the MPFBC. In return, Corporal Vaillancourt would shave his beard and contribue $250 of his own money. Corporal Vaillancourt's Unit was able to raise $273.50 through bake sales and a Chilli cook-off. Corporal Vaillancourt presented a cheque to Corporal Arial, the local MPFBC representative, for $523.50. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (Lieutenant-Colonel Sansterre) personally congratulates Corporal Vaillancourt on the tremendous efforts he demonstrated to raise $523.50 for such a great cause. Corporal Vaillancourt's efforts will have far reaching affects as there are always families who need assistance for their visually impaired children and without the generosity of people such asCorporal Vaillancourt, we would not be nearly as successful as we continue to be. Blind Fund Chair visits Gloucester Lion's Club
On the evening 1 Nov 11, LCol Gilles Sansterre (Chair) and Maj Mike Motyl (Pacific Regional Rep) provided a presentation to the Gloucester Lion's Club. The two Board members shared information about the organization of the Fund, fund raising efforts, how funds are distributed and the assistance needed to advertise to those visually impaired children in local communities. Our host, Mr. Dave Brush shared his enthusiasm over potential opportunities between our two organizations and offered to explore options in the Fund's efforts to raise and distribute funds to benefit visually impaired children. Mark Farrer and his dedicated committee are hard at work planning the next coast-to-coast motorcycle relay ride. This years ride will start at 19 Wing Comox and travel across the country, ending in historic St John's Newfoundland. Last years ride raised over $9,000 for the Blind Fund. Sixth Annual MP Hockey Tournament | Valcartier Quebec
CFNIS Eastern Region has once again hosted a stellar MP hockey tournament the last week of March 2010. The "Old Watchdogs" were the eventual tournament winner, however the Blind Fund was the true winner as the tournament raised an impressive $2,3000. Family and Friends for the Troops Supporting the MPFBC
Family and Friends for the Troops are a non-profit organization, comprised of civilians, Winnipeg Policemen and 13 Military Police Platoon Members. Their aim is to increase public support of the military by educating the public on the roles our Reservists play, honour their sacrifices and achievements, and promote their commitment to Community, Province and Country. They are planning a significant "Welcome Home Soldiers" event in Winnipeg on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Canad Inns (Garden City). BZ to Master Corporal Steve Laird - Fundraising for the MPFBC
MCpl Steve Laird with the assistance of retired MP Dell Blakney designed and minted a 2 Military Police Platoon Commemorative Coin with proceeds going to the MPFBC. Recently MCpl Laird was able to donate $500.00 to the MPFBC.

22 Wing North Bay Raising Funds for the MPFBC
22 Wing North Bay has been extremely generous in their support of the Blind Fund. Though this information is a little dated, it has not been published on our site previously. Two significant events generated over $6,000.00 for the MPFBC. A benefit concert featuring the 22 Wing Concert band paying tribute to the 50th Anniversary of NORAD raised an incredible $3755.00. High Praise from Winner of VIP Fishing Auction
CWO Barry Watson has just returned from his trip to Lac Seul, having won the auction last year. Barry was thoroughly impressed with the entire trip..."beyond belief" was mentioned several times. Barry also had very high praise for Ken and Brenda Robins, owner/operators of Lac Seul Outpost. A short slideshow of Barry's trip can be viewed here.
Military Police National Motorcycle Relay Ride
The MPNMRR is a Charity Fundraiser event to help raise money for Support Our Troops and the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. This event will consist of driving across Canada, passing through each Province (called Provincial Legs) with passing on the official baton, a Military Police Stuffed Bear. This ride will span from St. John's Newfoundland to Comox, British Columbia. For more details, visit the MPNMRR website.
Framed Wayne Gretzky Photograph Raffle
Two framed and signed photographs of Wayne Gretzky were raffled in the National Captial Region. The Grand Prize was a photograph of Wayne at centre ice at Maple Leaf Gardens following his final game there on December 19th, 1998. Second prize was a dressing room photograph of Wayne taken on April 18th, 1999. The draw raised in excess of $1100.00.

2009 - Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament
The 2009 Valcartier MP Hockey Tournament was another huge success, raising over $1,500.00 for the MPFBC. Military Police teams from all over Eastern and Central Canada converged on Quebec City for this annual event. The eventual tournament winners were the "Old Watchdogs", a team whose average age was over 45!
Hats off to Corporal Pierre Compeau
Corporal Compeau is the MPFBC unit representative at CFB Kingston. Under his impressive leadership and initiative, Kingston raised over $11,000.00 for the Fund in 2008

National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign
On November 20th, a cheque in the amount of $1154.85 was presented at NDHQ to the Military Police Fund for Blind Children. The funds were raised from generous donations by attendees at the Public Service Week BBQ held on June 18th at Cartier Square in Ottawa. Funds collected were in support of the NDWCC which then divided the proceeds between the MFRC and the MP Blind Fund.

Each year at this time, CANEX and the Miliary Police Fund for Blind Children engage in a charity campaign call "Trimm our Tree for a Loonie". The official launch is November 12th, 2008 - Visit your local CANEX to help raise funds for the MPFBC.
18th Annual National Capital Region Golf Tournament
The 18th Annual National Capital Region golf tournament has concluded and was a resounding success. Over $14,000 was raised in support of the MPFBC.

2008 CFSAL 24-Hour Hockeython in support of the MPFBC
Once again the Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics (CFSAL) is hosting a 24-hour Hockeython with proceeds supporting the MPFBC.
